The Tamain Ships

Fighters

Tamain fighters' characteristics differ more from the norm than any other non-organic fighter technology. Their engine design remains the most compact in the galaxy, which allows for an incredibly streamlined shape. A malleable, purple material comprises the hull. Its insulation strength allows fast speeds in atmospheres and almost negates the need of a heating/cooling system in the ship. A single pilot lies in the cockpit in an east-west orientation.

One element lacking in Tamain technology is weaponry. The standard fighters (called 'Chaack,' or 'power' in their language) come equipped with four low powered plasma cannons, which can inflict fatal damage only to shuttles and freighters in one-on-one combat. When fighting their alien counterparts, they employ a "flock" strategy. Traditionally, the lead ship governs course and target of all the rest in a flock. An incredible deadly force of several dozen cannons results. When the lead ship sustains too much damage, it falls to the back and another takes its place.

Tamain Fighter
Light Fighters

The light fighter carries a weak plasma armament as well as a projectile launcher. Its engines perform similarly to the standard fighter's, although its more aerodynamic design allows it to perform better in upper atmospheres. It is thought that the Tamain are currently adapting this design to use a flexible polymer technology for the main hull. The reason for this research we have been unable to assertain.
